A Grade I Georgian Church by Robert Smirke
Completed in 1824 by Sir Robert Smirke, architect of the British Museum’s front.
St Mary’s was completed in 1824 to designs by Sir Robert Smirke, who also designed the front of the British Museum. It was one of the Commissioners’ churches of the early 19th century, built in brick with a semi-circular stone portico of six columns and a tower facing Bryanston Square. The Grade I listed building was restored from 2000 and is now hired for events.
The Great Hall takes up to 600 for a standing reception or 300 for a banquet. The Undercroft below holds 400 standing or 250 seated, and a soundproof wall can divide it in two. A commercial kitchen on site can serve up to 300 seated guests, and our chefs use it for anything from canapés to a full dinner.
